A Journey Begins
I have wanted to own and run a photography business for many years. I started taking pictures with my Dad's camera back in junior high, but the photo bug really bit me when I was in college. Since then, I've taken a lot of photos, some good, a lot bad. About a year ago, I officially formed Divine Reflections Photography, a partnership with my wife.
My long term goal is to make a living selling fine art prints in galleries and over the internet. My other passion is hiking, backpacking, and other outdoor sports. I eventually want to take my business to the point where I can travel and backpack several months out of the year, making photographs all along the journey.
Getting the business to this point will be difficult. Everywhere on the internet, there are people who ask how to make a living selling prints. The answer is usually, "Good luck!" I'm going to give this a try anyway. I think that I love it enough and am just stubborn enough to make a successful business in spite of the difficulty. Besides, I believe I'm called to do this, so I don't really have a choice.
In the meantime, I am working as a computer programmer to pay the bills and support the need for film, equipment, and travel. I also hope to photograph portraits, events, and other assignments. I'd like to have the business supporting itself as soon as possible.
With that, welcome to my online journal and it's view into a part of my life. I hope that it is helpful and interesting. Come journey with me!

I'm just going to say 'Good luck!' as well :) Hope it works out.
